About Eduardo Brunet

Eduardo Brunet Álvarez de Sotomayor has more than 25 years of experience in the financial legal environment and has held various senior management positions in several multinational companies in the corporate finance, stock market, consumer finance and sustainable finance sectors.

Throughout his professional career, he has held management positions at Banesto, Grupo Santander, GE Capital Bank, and Iberdrola.

He has also been the founder and CEO of several non-profit organisations in the fields of human rights and development.

In April 2023, he joined the management team at the Green Finance Institute, with the aim of leading the organisation’s entry into the Spanish financial system, where in two years he has positioned it as a benchmark in the promotion of private green financing and a key player in the most important current forums such as the Sustainable Finance Council, ARCE 2050, Urban Agenda, Madrid Sueña, Cities 2030, to name but a few.

He has been awarded the Sustainability Action Award and is a regular contributor to the media, as well as a panellist and speaker on sustainable finance issues at Spanish and international forums.

Brunet has a degree in Law, a Master’s degree in Energy Law and has completed several programmes for senior executives in global business, management, leadership and public affairs at prestigious universities such as Oxford Said Business School, Harvard Kennedy School of Government, IESE and Instituto de Empresa
