About Javier Goyeneche
Born in Madrid, Javier studied in Spain, London, and Paris. He participated in internationally recognized equestrian competitions. He earned a degree in Business Administration from European Business School and a master’s in International Marketing Strategy from Northwestern University in Chicago.
Founded in 1995 Fun & Basics, a contemporary bags and accessories brand. Within 10 years, he expanded the business to 350 points of sale and 70 own stores. He was awarded the Madrid Young Entrepreneur of the Year in 2005.
After years in the fashion industry, Javier became concerned about the waste generated by the sector. This motivated him to create a new concept that combines design, fashion, and recycled materials.
In 2013, he founded ECOALF, named after his sons Alfredo and Álvaro. The brand focuses on sustainable fashion, producing outerwear, casual clothing, footwear, and accessories made from recycled materials. Under his leadership, ECOALF has grown globally, with over 1,500 points of sale and a flagship store in Madrid.
In 2020, Javier was awarded Social Innovator of the Year by the Schwab Foundation for revolutionizing the fashion industry and promoting sustainability. In 2022, ECOALF was recognized by B Corp as one of the best in the world in environmental responsibility, ranking in the top 5%. In 2023, the brand launched Ecoalf Sports, a line of sustainable sportswear, and Ecoalf Wellness, a line of recyclable, refillable cosmetics products, emphasizing circularity.
ECOALF continues to lead in sustainable fashion, expanding its product lines and international presence, establishing itself as a pioneer in eco-friendly and responsible fashion.
