About Heike Schmitz

Heike is a partner in our Frankfurt office who focuses on advising the insurance industry, fund managers and asset managers on investments, investment processes, general regulatory issues and the integration of sustainability and ESG considerations. Heike has worked in various roles in the insurance and investment industry for more than 17 years. She advises on all aspects of insurance investments, fund structuring and formation as well as regulatory matters. A particular focus lies on sustainable and impact investing in liquid and illiquid asset classes and the implementation of the EU Sustainable Finance framework for fund managers, asset managers, insurers and pension funds across Europe.

Heike leads our EMEA ESG practice together with Iria Calviño from our Madrid office. She is recommended as “Green Ambassador” in the Legal 500 Green Guide: EMEA 2024 and is described as “proactive and solution-oriented” as well as “…very well connected in the insurance industry” in the German legal directory JUVE (JUVE Handbuch 2023/2024 and 2022/2023).
