About María Jesús Romero de Ávila Torrijos

She is a senior civil servant of the Higher Corps of Audit and Accounting of the Spanish Social Security, ranking first in her class. She holds a Master’s degree in Corporate Finance and Investment Banking from the Instituto de Estudios Bursátiles (520 hours).

She has worked as an Auditor, Controller at the Spanish Social Security and as Deputy Director of Financial Policy in the Community of Madrid. In 2012, she joined the Ministry of Finance, where she participated in the design and management of the Regional Liquidity Fund for Autonomous Communities.

In 2016, she was appointed Director of Budgeting at the Ministry of Public Works (Fomento), a position she held until 2018. During that period, she served on the Board of Directors of ICO, Renfe, and Aena.

Since October 19, 2023, she has been serving as the Director General of Economy at Madrid City Council and is also a member of the Board of Directors of Mercamadrid.
