Santiago Durán Domínguez is the current President of the Institute of Accounting and Auditing (ICAC), where he is responsible for the legal representation, direction, promotion, and coordination of the Institute’s services. His main role is to ensure the ICAC fulfills its responsibilities, manage the Institute’s international relations, supervise the disciplinary regime, and exercise the legally assigned powers of the Presidents and Directors of Autonomous Bodies.

In addition to his role at ICAC, Santiago is a member of the Steering Committee of the Fund for Orderly Bank Restructuring (FROB) and chairs the Audit Committee and the Corporate Information Council, as well as their Advisory Committees. He is also a member of the Administrative Council of the European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (EFRAG) and a member of the General Codification Commission of the Ministry of Justice.

Regarding his academic background, Santiago holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Business Administration from the Complutense University of Madrid and a higher diploma in accounting, economic, and financial auditing from the Autonomous University of Madrid. He is a civil servant in the Senior Corps of State Insurance Inspectors and the Technical Corps of the Treasury and is registered in the Official Register of Auditors (ROAC).

His professional career includes his appointment as President of the ICAC in February 2020. Previously, he worked as an inspector in the General Inspection Sub-directorate of the Directorate General of Insurance and Pension Funds (DGSFP) and was the head of the quality control area in the ICAC. He has participated in various European Union programs assisting supervisory and regulatory authorities in different countries in the areas of auditing, insurance, and anti-money laundering. Additionally, he has worked in the inspection of Special Taxes at the Regional Customs and Special Taxes Office of Castilla la Mancha and the Provincial Customs Office of Barcelona.
