About Víctor Ausín Rodríguez
Víctor is currently Director General for Economic Policy, a role he took up in February 2024. His main focus is to promote economic rationality in the design of public policies by assessing and quantifying their economic impact. He is also responsible for promoting efficient regulation and a favourable business climate to stimulate investment and medium-term economic growth.
Born in Barcelona in 1983, he holds a Master’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (2006), having completed his thesis at RWTH University (Aachen, Germany). He also holds a degree in Political Science and Public Administration from UNED (2018), and has been a member of the Senior Corps of State Trade and Economic Technicians since 2016.
His professional career started as a financial consultant at KPMG, where he worked on projects related to the implementation of the Basel II and Solvency II regulatory frameworks in national and international financial institutions. From 2016, he focused on economic analysis and forecasting at the Ministry of Economy.
In 2021, he was appointed Director General of Macroeconomic Analysis, responsible for monitoring the national economic situation and identifying macroeconomic imbalances. His duties included preparing the government’s economic forecasts for the General State Budget, the Budget Plan and the Stability Programme, as well as assessing the macroeconomic impact of economic policies and reforms.
